1.1 A New Start

Lydia Saren arrives in Sunset Valley on a warm and sunny morning, bringing along her life savings of 1,800 dollars. Her father died when she was very little and her mother had died the year before. Knowing she had to go off on her own, she searched for housing, but her meager savings were not nearly enough to afford the cheapest home.
Then Lydia came across her mother's diary, which tells of 15 Summer Hill Court, the largest piece of land in Sunset Valley. It had been passed through her family for generations. And since she was an only child, she automatically became heir to the land.
Her mother's diary also said that when the heir was reaching elderhood, the heir would pick a son or daughter to be the next heir. The other siblings could stay if they wished, but the new heir owned the land.
It also mentioned something about the husband taking your last name, which explained why she was a Saren instead of a Rens, like her late father.
So, with 1,800 in her pocket, a flair for cooking and painting, a love for family, her flirty nature and her hopelessly romantic dreams, Lydia set off for Sunset Valley.

Lydia's meager savings allowed her to purchase a bed, toilet, a refrigerator, and walls around the said items. Good thing she didn't hate the outdoors.

But, something immediately went wrong. Lydia's only aunt, Aunt Bertha, claimed she was heir to the land, even though she was much older than Lydia's parents. She drew up some fake papers and sued Lydia. Since she only had 25 dollars, she was in a wild panic. She called a lawyer agency, who agreed to work with her for free.

John Smith was the lawyer assigned to her. He asked multiple questions about her family life and her move. After chatting a bit, John asked to see her home. Lydia reluctantly let him.

John was amazed at her living conditions.

"How do you live like this?" he asked, eyes wide.

Lydia shrugged in response.

"How much money do you have?"

"Twenty five dollars." Lydia mumbled.

"That's it?" he cried.

"I only had 1,800 to begin with." Lydia said.

John shook his head.

Over the next few days, John and Lydia worked closely together, trying to find evidence against her Aunt Bertha. One evening, John hit the jackpot. At the bank, he found official papers that willed the land to her. Along with that, her aunt's forged papers were missing critical pieces of information.

"So I can stay?" Lydia asked, eyes wide.

"We go to court tomorrow." John said. "I'm positive we can bring her down."

Lydia had a huge grin on her face. Without thinking, she leaped into John's arms.

"Whoa!" John said, almost dropping her.

Lydia hugged his neck. "I can't believe it." she whispered.

"Believe it. Tomorrow, this land will be all yours." he said, letting her slide to the ground.

Lydia continued to grin. Without a word, Lydia smashed her lips onto his.

For a moment, she thought John would furious. But it turned out he was also flirty and eagerly accepted her advance. He responded quickly and the two began kissing with much passion. He was also an excellent kisser.

One thing led to another and before she knew it, she was in bed with John. As the moon began to rise, the two were in another world.
Lydia was so overwhelmed from the excitement, she fell asleep. The last thing sh saw before drifting off was John kissing her on the forehead.

John was right. The case went without a hitch and Lydia was declared the rightful owner of 15 Summer Hill Court. Her aunt was naturally furious, even more so when she was sentenced to five years in prison for forging papers.
Lydia and John didn't see each other much, due to his work, but they made the most of it. But soon, Lydia was greeted to bouts of vomit every morning. Lydia had a feeling she knew what was wrong with her. Early that morning, she used the last of her savings for a pregnancy test. She gasped as she looked at the results.
Positive.
Lydia was filled with dread. She had wanted to have children, but not like this!

Lydia tried to deny it at first, but soon, she was not able to fit in her regular clothes. She was glad she had brought such an oversized shirt. She knew she had to tell John, but how would he react?

Lydia whipped out her phone and called John.

The next morning, he came right over.

"You needed to tell me something?" he asked.

"I need you to move in." Lydia blurted out.

"Okay, but any reason? Not that I'm unhappy-"

"I'm pregnant." Lydia said, cutting him off.

John's eyes went wide. There was a long stretch of silence.

"Are you mad?" Lydia asked quietly.

"No. It's great! Prefect!" John flustered. He sighed.

"We can do this."

With the money John brought in, they were able to build a small home. It was a tad bigger than it needed to be, but Lydia knew the house was going to be cramped when the baby came.
The thing she was happy about was the easel. She had loved painting as a child, but when her mother died, she sold her art set for money. It had been a while, so she had to start at the beginning.

Since their home lacked entertainment, they would head down to the gym to watch TV or dance to music. It was a long car ride, but it was the best they could do since John's pay was so appalling.

Lydia went into labor one evening, right as she was about to eat. John instantly began to freak out, but he managed to drive themselves to the hospital. Lydia was in a ton of pain, not to mention she was hungry!

Max Saren was born Athletic and a Couch Potato... what a strange combination! Although he wasn't planned, Lydia loved him with all her heart. She just wondered how John felt!
